Body-Solid GDIB46L Combo Bench

Our review of the Body-Solid GDIB46L combination bench:

Make no mistake, the Body-Solid GDIB46L is a tough home-use bench. We (GymRatZ) have actually had customers purchase the GDIB46L for commercial use, which is not recommended, but certainly testament to the quality, which is echoed across the whole Body-Solid range.

The Body-Solid GDIB46L adjusts from a decline position (for decline press, leg curl, or sit-ups) all the way up to 90° (for shoulder pressing), allowing for flat bench press and incline barbell press in between. The leg developer also allows you to perform leg extensions. Also of note, the barbell pillars can be reversed to perform (light) squats from the rear of the bench.

There's no doubting that the Body-Solid GDIB46L is an appealing prospect to perform your pressing exercises at home, however, I (Matt) would be far more inclined to opt for a free-standing bench with separate rack (with safety catches). This option would provide increased safety for all exercises allowing you to push yourself to failure – and mean that both the bench and rack can be used for separate exercises, such as dumbell press or squats. By the way, please remember, as with most featured benches and racks, the Body-Solid GDIB46L Combo Bench is for use only with a 7ft Bar (or special order International 6ft Bar).

You may wish to review the York FTS Olympic Combo Bench. The FTS Olympic Combo Bench looks near identical and has the same adjustment and incremental range, however, it's beefed up a bit for commercial use - benefiting from a heavier duty 3" x 2" box section frame.
