GymRatZ Critcal Mass Review:

For a long while we have been looking for a weight gainer that offers genuine high calories combined with high quality protein and essential fats which is easy to consume without bloating. When we recieved a sample pot of the new Critical Mass in Chocolate from our friends at Applied Nutrition I had to give it a go knowing this could be the perfect supplement we'd been crying out for.

What I'd hoped for it truly was..... Not being a "hard gainer" myself I decided to try Critical Mass but as an MRP Meal Replacement Powder taking just 2 scoops (half a serving) twice a day, this is what I found:

First impression was how well Critical Mass mixed with water and how fluid the mix remained. Almost no thickening whatsoever. Perfect for getting big calories down. With that, the following few days I knew I had to try Critical Mass the way it would be used by a real life customer so I went for a full 4 scoop serving in water **(1) and  with around 650ml or so of water Critical Mass still mixed up really easily and remained very "thin" in consistency. PERFECT !! just under 1000kcal in a non-bloating, easy mixing easy drinking shake. Sure there was occasionally a small amount (teaspoon worth) of non-mixed powder which formed a delicious bally of gloop but more water would almost certainly have fixed tat, besides I really like that chewy bit that slides out the shaker! Yummmm.

Other noticeable effect was that for the first 2o or 30 minutes it felt like I had just drunk water, nothing else, but after about 30 minutes there was a definite feeling of mild "fullness" but this subsided after about an hour so nothing to interfere with further meals or training etc.

I have only tried the Chocolate but that was delicious and I'm expecting the other flavours to be just as good.

**(1) Without exception I ALWAYS advise customers to consume a weight gainer supplement with water rather than milk as milk will leave you feeling bloated and full for far too long thereby reducing your ability to eat more meals later on. Also for this reason ALWAYS ignore any calorie label claims e.g. "Megga Mass 4000" and just read the label. There's no escaping the fact that with Protein and Carbohydrates having 4kcal/gram and Fats  having 9kcal/gram the only way of increasing calorie content is by taking a bigger serving size or, as many manufacturers used to do, boost the calorie figure by stating "when mixed with a pint of full fat milk" which is the biggest bit of junk information anyone could give !!!

Great product great  price but definitely for users with a genuinely high (very high) calorie requirement only.
