An exercise bike or indoor bike is usually one of the first items of fitness equipment considered by anyone wanting to lose weight through diet and exercise at home. Exercise bikes are great in that they take up quite a small area, so can usually find a corner of the bedroom or living room where it is always ready for action. One of the biggest problems is that to use any exercise machine you need motivation. If you buy a cheap exercise bike that is uncomfortable or doesn't have enough adjustment you'll not use it. At the very minimum you should buy a bike with a decent display and feedback. If you are only looking for a bargain basement bike then I always advise looking 2nd hand. If you then find you are motivated to use the bike for more than a week that's the time to seek out something of greater quality, which is when you should call us! :¬)

Indoor Cycling is the name given to fitness / exercise classes where the participants sit on stationary exercise bikes or indoor cycles and follow the class leader through an instructed workout.
The type of exercise bike used for indoor cycling classes is significantly different to a typical fitness / exercise bike. The body position seat and handlebars are all much closer to (if not the same as) the position adopted on a road race bike. There is rarely any display console and resistance is usually adjusted by mechanical levers. Exercise intensity would typically be monitored through the use of a personal Heart Rate Monitor (HRM) and chest strap.
It is worth noting that Indoor Cycling Bikes are going towards Magnetic resistance and workout monitors Like the Duke Magnetic. Most of these spin bikes while commercially rated are extremely popular with the home user due to exceptional build quality.
