International Olympic 7ft Bar (350kg Test)
MATT'S UPDATE 28/1/11: It should be noted that, since writing the rave review below, the quality of the International 7ft Olympic Bars produced by York Barbell are not what they used to be. It's still a decent bar, but not so much better than a "normal" olympic bar to warrant the £200 price tag. For most gyms, it'll probably be the best bar of choice for both quality and budget. However, for the serious weight training gym, or serious weight trainer at home, invest in a Texas Olympic Bar.
MATT'S ORIGINAL REVIEW Sept '09: Compared to the mass of "normal" olympic bars available today, the two stand-out features of the International Bars are the hard chrome finish - which looks far nicer & lasts a lot longer (without chipping) - and the split sleeve design - rather than the cheap bolted sleeves, which unfasten through use. These two features serve to make the bar far more usable, particularly in a commercial gym. Without a doubt, I (Matt) would purchase this bar in preference to a "normal" olympic bar.
Also of interest, we offer the same bar with a higher 480kg weight capacity (32mm thick), plus, the International Olympic 6ft Bar, which fits in olympic sized 46" wide racks and benches.
For sport-specific endeavours - Traditional Olympic Weight Lifting or Modern Olympic Weight Lifting (Powerlifting) - we offer the hard chrome finish and split sleeve design in the relevant regulation bar thicknesses (the strength of the steel being greater, rather than the bar thickness).
