Olympic Bars
Why use Olympic Bars for weight training? We are often asked the difference between Olympic and Standard weights and bars, simple explanation is the Olympic bars have 2" ends mounted on roller bearings which enables the bar to rotate easilly through 180 degrees even when fully loaded for Oympic style lifts where the bar goes from floor to chest or above head. Having 2" ends also mean the main bar is not restricted to the 25mm (1") diameter of standard weights, so higher loading capacities are possible through thicker bars. A 1500lb rated bar is around 32mm thick in our cheaper range of bars.

Olympic Plates
Olympic weight plates for use on Olympic Bars. Olympic weights come in various styles, designs and quality from rubber coated weights, rubber polygonal plates, bumper plates, competition grade plates and much more. Excluding the cost of olympic bars, the price of olympic weights are the same as the price of standard weights as it all comes down to £/Kg for cast iron regardless of the size of hole in the middle.
Olympic weights are harder to come by from regular highstreet stores but then again, your typical local store or catalogue shop won't usually sell anything bigger than a 10Kg plate, so you're still going to have to buy your bigger weights from a specialist supplier like GymRatZ :¬)

Olympic Collars
If you have Olympic weights then you absolutely need Olympic collars of some description. Whether spring collars, L-type collars, specialist collars such as Bulldog Collars or any other type of Olympic collar. If you use Olympic Dumbell Handles then we would strongly advise against the use of spring collars in favour of something more secure like Olympic L-Type Collars or the awesome Bulldog Collars from York Barbell (pictured). Either way we have olympic collars for every requirement whether home or commercial use. Next day delivery with no minimum order value.
