Maximuscle Lifting Straps
Lifting Straps can, if used correctly be a very useful addition to your training
accessory armory. When performing Back and Trap. exercises you dont want your
grip to prevent you hitting either muscle group intensely. Straps when wound
in the correct direction counteract the natural tendency for the bar to rotate
from your grip. Some people think you should not use straps, and build your
grip, fact is, if you want to do forearm / grip strengthening, you do forearm
/ grip exercises. You do back exercises to hit the Back !
How do I use Lifting Straps?
Put your hand through the loop so the "tail" naturally falls across your palm
and between your thumb and index finger.
Use the opposite hand to wrap the strap around the bar in the opposite direction
to the way your fingers curl. Repeat the same process with the other hand but
use thumb and index finger to wrap the strap around the bar. To tighten just
twist the grip like twisting the throttle on a motorbike. (You'll see when you
do it.)
Most common mistakes I find users making are wrapping the strap the same direction
as the fingers, and tightening the strap too tight on the wrist. You want the
wrist loop nice and loose so the load is applied to the thumb muscle rather
than to the wrist joint by being too tight.
Note, you have to thread the straps so you have a left hand and a right hand
one. Again, pretty obvious when you do it
Anyway, hopefully that makes sense, It's amazing how such a simple item is
constantly used incorrectly.
These Lifting Straps are made of strong canvas and will last a lifetime.
