Floor Bonding, Jointing and Sealing
Rubber flooring is the perfect solution for gym and fitness studio floors but sometimes thinner floors need to be bonded to the sub surface where heavy or dynamic traffic is encountered. With this in mind and the addition of rubber flooring rolls less then 8mm thick we have introduced a range of bonding agents suitable for permanently fixing rolls to the floor as well as compounds for jointing and sealing thicker rubber mats.
We also have surface sealants which provide a durable gloss surface on the rubber rolls which makes cleaning incredibly quick and simple while preventing dirt and dust from becoming ingrained into the rubber.
Whatever your gym flooring needs GymRatZ have the flooring solution.

MMA Martial Arts Flooring
Martial Arts dojos, dojangs and studios require different soft floor specifications depending on the particular style being practised. For this reason there is quite a wide selection of flooring thickness, types and styles which can become very confusing at first glance, so a quick overview of everything will give you a clearer picture.

Interlocking EVA foam tiles. - Typically come in 1m square and of varying thickness and density as follows:

- 20mm "MMA" for more upright arts where punching and kicking are the norm with limited throws and limited ground/floor e.g. Karate, Tae Kwon-do, MMA etc also general yoga, fitness (non weights) and kids play rooms etc.
- 20mm "Tatami" has a smoother surface and made from a lower density foam to the MMA tiles, more suitable where limited throws and more ground work is practised as the Tatami pattern is less abrasive on bare skin.
- 40mm "MMA" for a greater degree of impact protection from trips and falls, takedowns etc but still not suggested for high floorwork/grappling styles due to higher density and abrasive nature of the low slip surface.
- 40mm "Tatami" Much more suited to heavier throws and breakfalls and essential if being used on a non-sprung floor e.g. concrete etc. Still not as forgiving as true "Judo mats" but a great alternative for total flooring solution.
- 30mm "MMA" happy medium between the budget beating 20mm and the increased protection of the 40mm. Currently limited to balck/red MMA (Firm) tiles only.

Judo Mats. - Typically Judo mats offer a better resistance against hard and heavy throws / landings and are made with a more impact resistant foam core. Typically 2m x 1m they are laid out when required and stored in a pile when not in use. Not being an interlocking design they do move a little when in use unless fitted wall-to-wall so need pushing back to close the gaps occasionally during use.

Fitness or Gymnastic mats - Softer than Judo type mats, usually made from high density recycled chipped foam and suitable for schools and general PE / gymnastic activities.

Crash Mats. - Thick and soft designed for learning and practising advanced throws and break-falls with safety and confidence. Manufactured from a low density foam core with added cushioning given by restricted air release through breather holes in the sides of the mat. Various thickness and sizes depending on intended use.
