With spiralling cost of metal, rubber hex dumbells aren't much more expensive and well worth considering.

Constructional quality varies between brands and typically 30Kg is the maximum weight for any hex dumbell. Worth considering if taking your dumbells beyond this limit, perhaps look at the pro style range where there isn't really a maximum weight limit to speak of.
