GymRatZ Heavy-duty Smith Machine. Solid construction from heavy gauge steel. There's good and bad with the new and traditional smith machines, GymRatZ combine the best of both. Traditional straight up and down smith machines can prove uncomfortable when performing certain movements - in particular smith machine bench press, subsequently, we provide the option of this slightly pitched (7 degree angle) Smith Machine. Also, on the majority of Smith Machines now, you'll have lock out holes (cut-outs) along the body of the frame that the hooks hook over, but not on our machine. The GymRatZ Smith Machine is fitted with traditional lock out pegs and hooks. I (Matt) think the lock out pegs are much easier to feel and see when the smith bar's locked back in to position. Most importantly, the GymRatZ Smith Machine is incredibly smooth and passes the test of being able to raise the bar (unloaded) by lifting from one side - many cheaper smith machines jamb.
This GymRatZ Smith Machine now comes with the addition of a front Gun-Rack for free-bar work, (squats, bench press etc), enhanced by the 7-degree backwards tilt of the front uprights, it also includes adjustable safety stops to ensure full and complete safety when you might not be able to lock the hooks back in for some reason, and to add to this, although not shown on the pictures this extra value package also comes with 4 x weight storage posts (2 on each side) attached to the rear uprights of the frame.
We also do a pure perpendicular (traditional) smith machine but we can't see any justifiable reason for not going with this one as it's got so many additional extras as standard.
I (Pete) Have used this smith machine for many years when training in the shop after hours. Squatting and pressing from the gun rack has never been an issue providing you know when NOT to go for the last rep which you inevitably won't make; although this isn't such an issue for bench press as you can re-rack and any height.
Our shop unit has neither the adjustable safety stops which are collars that slide up and down the guide rods and can be hooked into place to stop the bar and carrier from going too low, neither does our shop demonstrator have weight storage posts so when you add these extra features that now come as standard fitment into the price you can see just what a great addition to any commercial gym this Smith Machine is.

* "Gun Metal" isn't a precise colour. The gun metal powder coat we use is almost black. rather than any sort of grey. If you're considering this colour option we have images we can send before you decide.
Typical Lead Time for Commercial "Made to order" items is around 6 weeks average depending on seasonal fluctuations.
The GymRatZ Smith Machine can be sent by carrier as uprights with minimal assembly required, but be careful with the Linear Bearing Encasement (please call if you are unsure)!!!.
