Texas Deadlift Bar

With good reason, the Texas Deadlift Bar is the bar of choice for many of the worlds top powerlifters. Now, with manufacturing costs rising, the subsequent quality of general olympic bars has declined. The bars have declined enough that many weight trainers will appreciate the Texas Bars, despite the cost compared to a basic 7ft olympic bar, as the Texas Bars really are that much more comfortable to use.

Both myself (Matt writing) and Pete (owner of GymRatZ) favour the Texas Deadlift Bar for the following two key reasons: 27mm grip diameter (compared to 32mm to 34mm on most currently manufactured olympic bars); No centre knurling, so outer knurling's only 42cm apart (52cm apart on a typical olympic bar). Also of note for powerlifters, the bar's 7.5 feet long with an internal shaft measurement of 140cm. A normal olympic bar's 7ft with an internal shaft of 128cm.

If you're looking for a single "decent" bar to perform all of your lifts, the Texas Power Bar is my recommendation. If you're a regular deadlifter though (you should be!), invest in the Texas Deadlift Bar also.
