Information about our GymRatZ 4-Way Commercial Smith Machine
Our 4-way commercial plate loaded smith machine has recently been updated to feature adjustable safety stops for both vertical and horizontal movement.
Incorporating no less than 12 Thompson Linear Bearings the action of this machine is the smoothest you'll find in the industry with an unsurpassed longevity.
3D movement (up, down, backwards, forwards). Smith Machines have long been a gym favourite alongside power racks and the like. A 3D Smith Machine fits somewhere between the two, eliminating the guided straight up and down restraints of a generic smith machine, but not a fully free bar motion.
Personally (Matt writing), I like the option of a Smith Machine within a gym because of its somewhat restricted movement in order to perform exercise variations, such as smith machine hack squats, smith bar lunges, smith bar military press etc. That said, I would always favour a free bar for bench press, squats etc. For me the 3D Smith Machine is not a necessity, but a nice extra piece of kit to offer. Or, in a council run gym, health club, or simply the lack of a spotter, you may even favour the 3D Smith Machine over both a power rack or smith machine.
Pete Says: When the idea of a Jones Machine (which is a more common name for this item) became popular I thought it was a brilliant. The user must be VERY wary that the usual smith machine exercises can only be performed by locking off the forward/back runner. First time I tried using our 3D Smith Machine for a squat I ended up stumbling backwards, fortunately I hadn't put any weight on the bar but given my own experiences I'd much rather use a barbell knowing EXACTLY what was going to happen but we have installed a number of these over the years but my personal advice would be to go for our regular Smith Machine and a full power cage or Half Rack for virtually the same price.
All GymRatZ Gym Equipment comes as standard with white, silver, or black frame. Other colours are available (please see full list below). All GymRatZ Gym Equipment is made to order and subsequently each order regarded as a special order. This means that lead times may vary.
With a huge range of off-the-shelf colour options as standard we're sure you'll find just the right combination of frame, upholstry (and stitching) to match your gym colour scheme. We do think that stitching to match the frame colour is quite exceptional though and one of our favourite combinations is Orange frame, Black Upholstry and Orange stitching.
- FRAME: Black, Gun Metal*, Clear Coat, Rhino Grey, WG Red, Red, Orange, Blue, Yellow, White
Typical Lead Time for Commercial "Made to order" items is around 4 to 5 weeks average depending on seasonal fluctuations.
The GymRatZ 3D Smith Machine can be sent by carrier with minimal assembly required, but be careful with the Linear Bearing Encasement (please call if you are unsure)!!!. Please call for an installation price.

Rugby club and powerlifters favourite - the GymRatZ Power Rack. Seen in top rugby clubs and elite sports facilities, the GymRatZ Power Rack is one of the toughest and versatile pieces of gym equipment available.
Incredibly smooth running (on Thompson linear bearings) Commercial Smith Machine from GymRatZ. Another important feature is the traditional-style lock out rods (that you can see), rather than cut-outs along the framework.
A favourite with schools and rehabilitation centres - the GymRatZ Counter Balanced Smith Machine. Offering the smoothness and toughness of the GymRatZ Smith Machine, but with the benefit of the smith bar being counter balanced to just 2kg.
The Selectorised Smith Machine has found favour with the growing increase in pedantic health and safety concerns whereby some gyms are equipped solely with selectorised gym equipment. So, in this instance, at least your gym can still provide versatility with machine such as the GymRatZ Selectorised
The GymRatZ Power Cage is built without compromise, offering 8 storage posts and 2 bar holders to the rear of the frame, ultra-close lift-off holes, massive 83cm deep training area (compared to 68cm on GymRatZ Power Rack), 2 heavy-duty safeties, 2 quick-change saber-style safeties, dual chin bars
